Your
Association Of Chiefs (AOC) Executive Board convened on February 1,
2005 at Camp 2 to discuss the growing uneasiness and tension associated
with the current “job action” initiative that has been undertaken
by our Local 1014 associates.
As
is clearly outlined in the AOC Constitution and By-Laws, the members
of the AOC are committed to providing leadership and direction to all
members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Additionally, we
will always promote and provide a quality of fire protection, emergency
medical service, and environ-mental incident response commensurate with
the public’s best interest.
Therefore,
regarding the current “job action” initiative, the AOC advocates
the following:
“Above
all, members are encouraged to ensure that mutual respect among all
members is observed and practiced at all times. While assigning duties
to subordinate members, all managers are encouraged to follow all lawful
written Department policies, procedures, rules and regulations. The
execution of duties and responsibilities of all AOC members shall be
in full support of the Department’s Mission”.
Your
AOC Board of Directors is communicating regularly with the Executive
Board of Local 1014 as well as Chief Freeman and his Executive Staff
in an effort to keep fully apprised of each entity’s intent and
changing initiatives. Your AOC Board will provide immediate updates
to the AOC membership relative to any future “job action”
movements without delay.
All
AOC members are encouraged to communicate any/all “job action”
concerns to their immediate supervisor and contact any one of their
AOC Board Directors to discuss this issue in detail.
